So, my journey ended today with no more consultations but and woe forbid that I do in the future have any further problems with my spine, the first call I will make is to Mr Ishaque.

February 2020

My Journey with Consultant Spinal Surgeon Mr. Mushtaque A Ishaque .I had for some time felt an ache in my lower back which I put down to age and my sporting activities. Then in February 2019 on a weekend I had refereed a football match, it was cold wet and typical winter day, after the game my back was aching but nothing to cause me to be worried. The following day the weather changed, so I spent 3 hours sitting on a low seat leaning forward and back weeding the garden. The next day I could not walk the excruciating pain from my back, down through my left hip, thigh through the shin to my foot was something I had never experienced before. I basically fell into a taxi and visited my physio who referred me to Mr Ishaque and my Journey with him began. It is said that that the first few minutes of meeting someone for the first time, one forms an opinion that always remains with you. As I hobbled into his consulting room I was greeted by a very polite respectful and sympathetic Mr Ishaque. During the consultation he reassured me that he would be able to get me back to normal and arrangements then commenced for my treatment. I had full confidence in him and came out of his room thinking, If anyone can fix my back its him. During the following 12 months I certainly had my highs and lows following procedures on my spine for herniated disc(s). Due to the location of the troublesome disc(s) it was dangerous for open surgery which was to be a last resort. Following the last procedure on the 7th of January 2020 I am now free from the excruciating pain and a gradual increase in exercise managing 5 to 6 mile walks every other day. Next objective is to get running again and to look forward to another season football refereeing. A person is only as good as his team and during the year I have made the acquaintance of those working closely with Mr Ishaque in the operating theatre who I found to be real nice friendly people. Finally, all of the management of running the ship and bringing everything together, I have to praise and thank Mr Ishaque Private Personal Assistant Ms Linda Hamilton for the professional friendly manner in looking after the administrative side of my treatment. So, my journey ended today with no more consultations but and woe forbid that I do in the future have any further problems with my spine, the first call I will make is to Mr Ishaque.
