I had suffered with my back going for over twenty years and sought Professor Ishaque’s professional expertise following a particularly agonising flare up in August 2021. I also had constant pain and tingling in both legs, which I did not actually think was linked to the degeneration of the disc before my treatment, but which was becoming unbearable. The MRI detected a disc herniation and Professor Ishaque advised me to have a bilateral nerve-root injection under general anaesthetic, followed by some physiotherapy sessions.

I must admit, I was initially sceptical about both the injections and the physiotherapy and did not really expect to see much difference. However, I was astounded when I came round from the procedure to find that the tingling and pain in my legs had completely gone and that the effect was immediate. 3 months on and I am still pain free. The physiotherapy was also a pleasant surprise, and I will certainly continue with the exercises I have learnt to strengthen my core, back and legs now my treatment has finished. What a difference in such a short amount of time!

I was a keen runner before August last year and thought I would never run again, but I am now hopeful that I may be able to start again, even if the London Marathon is perhaps not on the list anymore!
