For more than  a year  I suffered with extreme  'burning' pain in my lower back, left buttock and leg.  Many physiotherapy sessions and acupuncture made no difference and an MRI scan detected something more unusual at the base of my spine.

I had my first consultation with Professor Ishaque in early December 2021. His personable manner put me at ease immediately in what might have been an anxious and stressful situation.

He explained the MRI results clearly and confirmed that my problem was one of complexity and outlined various options,  believing the best way forward was to begin with a well tried and tested drug at a very low dosage.  

Although a little concerned about taking drugs due to potential side effects, some pain relief made this the sensible way forward.

In  the 10 - 12 weeks since starting to take this drug and with a slight increase in dosage, the  burning pain (neuropathic pain as explained  by the Professor) has reduced significantly.  Nearly as important is the fact I have no side effects from the medication. 

I now have no need for follow up consultations with Professor Ishaque but would have no hesitation in seeking his medical expertise in the future, or indeed recommending him to anyone with spinal problems.
